Project Connect 209
Project Connect 209 is a NEW Youth For Christ Initiative. Project Connect 209 is partnered with other local organizations in the Central Valley that is focused on teaching youth about forming and maintaining healthy relationships. The program, “Love Notes” is an interactive, evidence-based 12-lesson (8 hour), relationship skills curriculum for teenagers. The curriculum embodies an innovative approach that addresses positive youth development, life skills, healthy relationships, dating violence, sexual delay, and sexual risk avoidance.
These goals, typically addressed in separate programs, are integrated and embedded into one
comprehensive healthy relationship skills program that appeals to teenagers’ aspirations, rather than
merely emphasizing what they must avoid. Our focus is teenagers aged 11-19 years old. While some
of our groups have been focus groups targeting teenagers in dysfunctional relationships (whether that
be family, involved in friendship drama, or unhealthy romantic relationships), all youth benefit from
this program. It is beneficial for youth to hear what others around them are experiencing
(both healthy and unhealthy).
